Winter Pregnancy – Do’s and Don’ts

Pregnancy has its own challenges during every season. But, winter brings its own special set. The cold weather can make you feel a little uncomfortable through various common cold & cough flu’s, the immunities supposed to be a little low during winters, dry skin, increase in pains and aches etc. Seems, the winter season could be a little de-motivational factor for a mother-to-be. However, you can sail through it if you follow some necessary precautions beforehand.

So, here we bring to you some Do’s and Don’ts to have a good winter pregnancy.

Avoid Eating for two

No doubt your body asks for more food. But, eating too much during winters can lead you to feel more lethargic and inactive which might bring some other body issues. So, try and limit your intake of food during winters. Rather, eat seasonal fruits, take a sunbath and drink fresh homemade juices, eat loads of salad and try to include saffron in your diet. It keeps the body warm and strong.

Drink plenty of water

Winter might make you forget to drink water. But, if you are pregnant make sure you put various water alarms in your phone. It is highly important to keep your body hydrated during winters. You may include fresh coconut water and juices in your water diet.

Keep your feet warm

As advised by our grandmother’s, keep your feet as warm as possible. Keeping your feet warm is very important during pregnancy. Cold is most likely to hit you through your feet. So snuggle up in your favourite pair of socks.

Keep your body moisturised

The skin becomes quite dry during winters. The dry breeze, cold evenings and hot baths can make your skin feel dry. Also, during pregnancy, your skin goes through a lot of changes. So, invest in the best moisturiser and make it your bedside decor. Keep pampering your body.

Stay Active

This is the most difficult one. Winters definitely make us feel lazy and lethargic and when you have a whole human being living inside you, you might feel too lazy. But, try to keep yourself active. Indulge in some simple yoga steps. This will also help you and the baby to keep warm.

Invest in winter maternity clothes

Invest your money in some really good and warm winter pregnancy clothes. Maternity lounges, warm jackets, shrugs, sweaters and pregnancy jeans or pants.

And last but not least STAY HAPPY and STAY CALM. The most important mantra to follow during pregnancy.
