Many Congratulations for your bundle of joy. Now you have a new human being to carry home with you, who is so tiny that we are sure that you might have a lot of emotions inside.
During the initial days with your baby, some things might come naturally to you while you may feel lost for others. Do not worry, we have a quick guide for you.
Take care of yourself
Whether you had a normal delivery or a C-Sec, your body needs time to heal. It is the biggest thing to give birth to another human being. So, the first thing is take a very good care of yourself. Eat and drink healthy, stay indoors, wear comfortable clothes, read books, listen to some nice music, keep yourself happy, sleep as much as you can and maintain a good night time schedule with your partner.
Visiting Rules
Your loved ones and friends will surely want to see you and the baby. But, it is important to lay out some visiting rules. So that you and your baby do not get tired. Insist the visitors to not pick the baby up and wash/sanitise their hands before meeting you. Also, let only the trusted visitors come and see you.
Ask for Help
If you want to stay sane and not get into postpartum depression then please be vocal. Ask for as much help you need. Talk to your friends, your mom and if need be with your partner. Ask for whatever help you require.
Let your emotions flow
There are chances that you and your partner might be tired and anxious at the same time. But, don’t worry, it is just a matter of time. Divide your duties and talk to each other. Do not resist your emotions and let them flow.
Ignore unwanted and confusing advice
When you know how to produce the baby, you will definitely know how to raise the baby up. So, take what you need and leave the rest.
Just concentrate on your baby
Forget about any other household work. Whether it’s household, laundry, dishes etc. leave them aside and concentrate on your baby. Let the people around you do some work.
Remember, you will sail through all this. You might feel that you are in chaos but things will soon be better and under control. Wait till your baby gives you that million dollar smile 🙂
